About me
I graduated with a 2:1 in Pathology and Microbiology with a year in industry from Bristol University in 2008. I was awarded the Max Russ & Anna Mayr-Harting Prize “for the most independent & imaginative” final year project. I have an interest in bioinformatics and image analysis.
Current Research Interests
I am working on the evolution of virulence in opportunistic pathogens, particularly those that cause bacterial infections of the Cystic Fibrosis lung. The evolution of virulence is an important area of evolutionary theory as it covers several interacting evolutionary forces, such as the relationship between parasite relatedness and virulence and the trade off between the damage to the host and dispersal of the pathogen. Research in this area could have an impact on public health policy. I will be particularly looking at quorum sensing due to its control over many virulence factors in opportunistic pathogens.
